Surprise
***
Somehow, she missed him when she walked in to her office. She'd been absorbed in Russell's latest water reclamation report, and as odd a subject as that'd been to make her block out the rest of the world, five overflowing sinks and fifteen extremely pissed scientists had mate it imperative reading.
That was the only reason she'd walked right by him and made three pages of notes before glancing up and almost screaming her head off.
"I'd say 'surprise', but I've been sitting here for the last fifteen minutes."
Hand to her chest, she made an inarticulate squeaking noise and did the first thing that came to mind. She threw her pen at him.
The wounded look he gave her was worth the ten heads peeking around equipment to peer through her office walls. And the smirks. Well, almost the smirks.
"You threw a pen at me!"
"You made faces at me while I was working!"
"How did you- No I didn't!"
She set her thinkpad down and crossed her arms over her chest to smirk at him. She should have expected him. It was Thursday, and Thursday usually meant "Bitch about McKay until they didn't want to kill him anymore" sessions in her office. With coffee.
John glared and somehow managed to look injured at the same time. "You can't prove anything."
Elizabeth raised her eyebrow and leaned back, just a little.
John had the grace to look uncomfortable. "Well, you can't."
The eyebrow went higher.
He started to squirm.
She couldn't help it. The laughter is helpless and long, and by the time she wass wiping tears from her eyes and down to the occasional giggle, he's smiling too.
"You know, you're incredibly easy, don't you?" She manages to get the sentence out only snickering once.
He just raised his eyebrow and leaned over to clink his coffee mug against her own. "Yeah, keep telling yourself that."

Back.
